There is an iSCSI configuration which works a bit differently than what I use to experiment with Openfiler. Hello Hi-Liter, I think there are some jail related settings in /etc/sysctl.conf that lets you do that. VMs are great for people learning how FreeNAS works, and the elite of the elite that really know their stuff. I may look at OpenFiler, a product similar to FreeNAS. I'm still learning about jails, but I think I saw something about it. [FreeNAS] File server, office use Web & Network Services. In case of NAS4Free one shouldn't learn anything beside he/she already knows(even if system support SSH access and command line over web). File transfer speeds are also pretty good over my newly installed Gigabit network. Andrew may have some further good ideas on what the heck its doing as I don't know how to troubleshoot NFS on BSD underneath freenas yet. The problem is, that since the jail does not allow creating TUN/TAP devices - which are needed by openvpn - I have to create a tap device on the host (FreeNas) and clone it.
